Much of Balmain sits inside a heritage conservation area, and most of it has no off-street parking or side access. The two together decide how a job is staged long before they decide how it looks.
The first question on almost any Balmain job is how the material gets in. A large share of the peninsula has no driveway, no side gate and a street too narrow to park a truck without blocking it, which means sheet goods and long lengths come through the front door and up a hallway.
